Privacy Policy
Open Circuit ("Open Circuit," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through our website at closethecircuit.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using this site, you agree to the practices described here.
Who we are
Open Circuit is a community nonprofit (in formation) based in Central Texas that connects young people with professionals, workplaces, and real-world experiences. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you use our contact form, we collect the details you choose to provide: your name, email address, the role you are reaching out as, and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we collect limited technical information through analytics and our hosting provider, such as your browser type, device, approximate region, the pages you view, and how you arrived at the site. This helps us understand what is useful and improve the site.
How we use your information
- To respond to your message and follow up about getting involved.
- To coordinate mentor meetups, tours, workshops, and similar opportunities you ask about.
- To understand site usage and improve our content and programs.
- To send occasional updates only if you have asked to hear from us.
How your information is shared
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only in these limited situations:
- Service providers that help us run the site and communicate with you. These currently include our form-delivery service (FormSubmit), our email provider (Purelymail), our analytics provider (Google Analytics), and our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare). Each processes data only to provide its service.
- Legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and property of Open Circuit, our community, or others.
Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies to measure site traffic and usage patterns in aggregate. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out browser add-on. Blocking cookies will not prevent you from using the site.
Children's privacy
Open Circuit serves young people, but this website is intended to be used by parents, guardians, educators, mentors, and partners, not by children on their own. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If a young person wishes to take part, we ask that a parent or guardian make contact and stay involved. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent's involvement, please email [email protected] and we will delete it.
How long we keep information
We keep contact-form messages and related correspondence only as long as needed to respond to you and support our programs, and then for a reasonable period for our records. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to stop contacting you. To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, and we rely on established providers for hosting, email, and form delivery. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
Our site may link to other organizations and resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Open Circuit grows and as our programs develop. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above. Significant changes may also be noted on this page.
